Meet Chrissy Patrick, Ara and Obi

  1. When did you start your business?

Ara and Obi launched in November 2020. As a mum of two eczema sufferers, I found it really difficult to find bedding, sheets in particular, that did not irritate their skin further. Relying on the benefits of nature, I wanted to create a brand with that worked not just for her family, but for families everywhere. Ara and Obi is an eco and vegan-friendly bedroom and bathroom linen brand for babies and toddlers, specialising in bamboo bedding blankets and towels, for those with delicate, sensitive and eczema prone skin.

2. Who inspires you?

I am inspired by so many different people! One of them is my Grandmother, who was one of the first women to study dentistry at Guys (now Kings College London) in the 50s. My children also inspire me to do better and go further. More generally though, I am inspired by those in business who have a vision, go after it, get recognition for it, and then help others do the same. I am all about paying it forward.

3. What’s your top business tip for getting through the pandemic?

I think this really depends on what your business it. If it’s product focused I would say double down on your product and brand so that your existing customers are reminded of your value, and new customers can find you and know what you are about (this is the perfect time to showcase your brand values and ethos as a differentiator).

4. How is your business adapting to change?

We launched during the pandemic, so from that perspective we have only worked one way, however it’s been really important to give added value to our customers. It’s not just about selling them our products, it’s also about giving them valuable information that can help them in caring for their children’s skin.

5. What are you looking forward to after the pandemic?

Getting out and about at events and meeting some of our customers face to face.
